Changing from double to triple crankset

Hi, I'm considering changing my current double to a triple to get the extra range. I'm currently set up with a full 2007 campagnolo record setup with an 53/39 ultra-torque crank and medium cage rear delailleur. Do I need to change anything aside from the crank and the bottom bracket to change this setup to a triple? I'm 57 years old and I find that I need the extra gearing for some of the rides I do out west. I have considered going to a compact setup however it seems to me I would have to change the front and rear derailleur to make the switch to compact. It seems the least amount of change would come with switching to a triple vice compact. any suggestions would be appreciated.

You would actually have to change the least with Compact. All you would need is the crank, lower the FD and perhaps take a link out of the chain for Compact. NO 'compact' FD needed, certainly not a new rear derailleur. Use the same BB cups with UT.

For triple you need bottom bracket, crank, front derailleur. The medium cage rear derailleur would be fine. All that is offered in 2009 is the 'Comp' triple subgroup.
