How do I get a new rim for Ksyrium Elite front

Hey everybody,

Unfortunately, yesterday I was hit by a car (luckily at a slow speed in a parking lot - so I am not too hurt) and it bent the rim of my front Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheel. Since these are prebuilt wheels, how should I go about getting new rims for them (can the bikeshop order them or is there a website online which I can order them from)?

Find a shop that's a Mavic dealer. I had to replace a broken Ksyrium Elite rim a few years ago (bad pothole, not a car), and I paid around $120 (US). The LBS sent it to the the factory (or somewhere in the Mavic network) and a couple weeks later I had a new rim built on the hub. I have heard mixed reviews on Mavic service, however the shop took care of it for me and it seemed relatively painless. This was a few years ago, and now I'm a handbuilt convert, but I would imagine the process is still similar. Mavic dealers are pretty common too. Glad to hear you are ok.

Yeah, any Mavic dealer can get your wheel rebuilt. Not sure if they can get you the rim so that you can rebuild it yourself though...

Is the driver at fault? Is he / she going to pay for your damages?

If so, just get a new wheel. It isn't worth the hassle you'll go through to save him / her a few bucks.
