My bike generally gets stripped down once a year to lube things, replace cables and housings, thoroughly clean the bike, and etc. My chain gets oiled approximately every 150 miles, more frequently if I've been riding in the rain. Also, if I've been out in heavy rain, pivot points are lubed. The chain and cassette on the rear wheel get changed as needed. I try to check my tires after rides and pull out debris stuck in the tires. Some people clean their bikes on a regular basis, and some clean their bikes when they appear dirty. Me? Ehhhhh, I don't worry about it not be clean. The components stay in good working order, but I have to say that my chi glows brightly when my bike looks like it's been used. That, in my mind, is how bikes should look. I'd say I'm in a very small minority with that opinion. I can't remember what I'll do. It's just ingrained after years of doing it, so I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Full strip and lube twice a year. Wipe and lube chain every 100 miles. Wash steel bikes after every ride. Wash aluminum and Ti bikes whenever they get too dusty or dirty, usually after five rides or so. I only replace parts when they need to be replaced and make adjustments when they are needed. I do check the seatpost height prior to a ride just in case it has slipped. It only happened once but it was bad enough that now I always check. I check tire pressure the night before a ride and then again right before riding. I always visually inspect the bike and tires after every ride to see if there is anything that needs repaired or replaced. I usually check the true on all of the wheels that I normally use at least once a year, usually when it is too cold and nasty to be riding. If I am pulling out an old set of wheels for some odd reason, I will true them before using them. Most importantly, before each ride I check the refrigerator to make sure that I have a couple of beers on hand for after the ride.
