Default Mavic cycling shoe sizing

I'm looking for a new pair of road cycling shoes, and I am
considering the yellow Mavic Zxellelium. There are no local stores which sells mavic shoes, so I'm looking to buy in the internet

I do alternate between regular (running shoes, that is) sizes EUR 41 and 42 regarding , say Asics shoes, but normally I am a 42 (UK size 7,5-8).

My previous pair of Northwave aerlite road cycling shoes were size 41/7.5, and the pair I'm about to replace is a Specialized pro road, 41/7.5, which fits me perfectly.

So, what Mavic shoe size will fit my feet the most? Size EUR42/UK8?

Thanks,

Hard to say as all shoes use different lasts and sizing is anything but standardized. Either buy 2 pair and return one or ensure the MO outfit you use will let you exchange the shoes if they don't fit. Tough I know if you don't actually ride with them but one of the pitfalls of mailorder.

As Peter has noted, the LAST that is used by different shoe makers varies ...
ASICS == Asian 'Last'
MAVIC == EUROPEAN 'Last'

SPECIALIZED == probably, an Asian 'Last'

LASTS VARY BETWEEN SHOEMAKERS!
I wear a 44 Shimano, but I wear a 45 SIDI ...

An old pair of shoes which fits perfectly can be misleading because (for example) I have a well worn pair of 43.5 Shimano road shoes which "fit perfectly" (too perfectly, now!?!) but a 43.5 Shimano is a size I probably couldn't wear if I were trying to fit into a new shoe.

To over-simplify, when in doubt opt for the shoe that is ONE EURO SIZE LARGER (a half-size in American sizing) because you can always change the shoe liner or wear a thicker sock ...

And, unlike OTHER athletic shoes, cycling shoes have mostly man-made uppers ...

AND, a running shoe is supposed to fit more snugly than a cycling shoe (yes, I know some/many people like to buy/wear a cycling shoe that is too small and then they complain about hot spots or other circulatory problems), so referencing your running shoe when sizing a cycling shoe can be a mistake.

There generally IS continuity in sizing between MTB & ROAD shoes Lasts with each shoe maker, but if you wear a thinner sock with your ROAD shoe, then you that may be a factor in sizing when buying a MTB shoe (some people have both).
