That said, I now find 13-26 too low and use 12-25. I also have an 11-23, though this seems too high a range (for me), and 34x25 is a bit too low. So maybe 11-24 next, if there is such a thing. I would be interested to know if anyone out there is running 13-26. What are your reasons to choose it? I thought it would be a popular pick, though have no clue if it is. The posts generally seem to suggest it is not so well received. |

13-26 just doesn't seem too versatile to me. The ranges that Peter listed (11-23,11-25,11-27,12-25, 12-27, 12-29) seem to cover all the bases for the vast majority of people and crank combinations. That is, a person could pick one of those cassettes, and it would cover most if not all of the rider's, uhm, rides.

13-29 seems like a good range for a standard double 39-52 or 53. Not so good for a compact where 12-29 would be better for hilly rides. 11 tooth cogs never made sense to me for anything over a 46 tooth front ring. But then, I don't ever try to keep up with fast groups, so spinning out at a little over 30mph is not a problem for me. |
