I'm very interesred in this bike ( cannondale R1000 ) and I'd like to know your opinions. I'm looking for a bike which could be good for everything... long time riding ( 200 km and more ), training and comfortable but not soft. thank you in advance for your answers ! |

I just bought a R1000, I have only had it about a week but I really like it. The Caad7 frame is noticably more comfortable than other aluminum bikes I have ridden, especially if you weigh 190 lbs or more. I agree with the statment that it is a stiff ride but I like that feel in a bike, makes for a responsive ride. I don't know how much you have been test riding but that was what clinched it for me, the steel bikes didn't really do anything for me, other aluminum bikes were a little more harsh, so it was a good compromise. Oh yeah, carbon fiber and Ti are out of my price range, and I got a nice deal on this bike. Other than that it is well spec'ed out bike, pretty solid, fun to ride...good luck. |

Could be the CAAD 7 is more a race-oriented frameset than you may want. It's certainly light, at 1200 gms, and stiff. For more long distance comfort, suggest you check out the new Trek 2300 with the carbon seat stays. I test rode that bike a couple of months ago, and thought it had a very plush ride. Many other brands are building carbon rear stay bikes also, in the same price range as the R1000. Suggest you test ride and decide for yourself. Everybody likes something different. Dan |
