Default Trek 1200 specs

Hello,

I'm looking for specs for the Trek 1200 roadbike year 2001.
This 2e hand bike is for sale by the local shop. The only thing i know about the bike is that it has Tiagra shifters and Vuelta rims.
The bike cost 575 euro
Can anyone tell me more about this bike? and how is the price?

Thanks

greetings

Thanks for your reply

Color of the bike is the same as the 2000 model, but de specs are the same as the 2001 model (bikemagic.com), at least the rims and Tiagra component group. Are these bikes available in different colors?
Is the price allright?

Available colour options - if there are any - are probably listed on the manufacturer's site.

If there hasn't been any major improvements over the last two years, I think the price is quite ok, though you might want to check the prices for some newer models.

PS. I didn't notice it was a second hand bike... it makes things a lot trickier. Having a groupset like Tiagra, there might be some durability issues.

Is it possible to check those durability issues? on which parts?

There's no way of knowing the bike's condition for sure - at least if you're just able to ride around your LBS. Buying a second hand bike always involves some risks; there might be faults that are really hard to notice. If the previous owner has done just few rides or treated the bike with special care, the bike just might be in mint condition. Check the groupset (gears, brakes etc.). The transmission should operate smoothly and silently. Inspect the frame thoroughly; there shouldn't be any dents or deep scratches. Upgrades and spare parts easily become quite pricey, so you might end up having a second hand bike more expensive than a new one. But don't let this discourage yourself. Used bikes are certainly worth to consider.

Thanks for your good advise.

I will call the LBS tomorrow and ask if it's possible to make a test ride.
