Felt vs. Cannondale

I am trying to switch from running to Cycling and am trying to decide on a bike. I am torn between a '03 Felt 45 ($1400) and a '04 Cannondale r1000 ($1600). The money isn't an issue for me... but the quality/comfort/performance are. As well as, a little bit of pride in Name recognition. Does anyone have any advice for a beginner like me? By the way, I am an avid Marathon runner and have a great cardio base, I will just need to build leg strength.
