STX RC components - good or bad?

Hello!
I recently bought an used GIANT ATX 970 bike.
It has STX RC components (at least hubs and deraillieurs)

The bike was very cheap and yet there's nothing wrong with it.
Are STX components good or bad?

There is a lot of info about LX, TX or XTR on the net, but hardly any info about STX.

I'm putting together a mountain bike for touring in Asia. Should I stick to STX components that I already have or simply get new parts.

I will appreciate any comment.

STX RC was a Shimano mountain bike groupset in the mid-to-late 90's. In terms of the quality hierarchy, it's equivalent to the modern Deore.

It's in German.

It was middle of the line 8 speed stuff. Plenty good if not wore out. I'd go with a friction shifting setup or shifters that have a dual mode in case the indexing craps out in some remote area.
