If someone could check out the photo here, I have a question: http://botachtactical.com/fujpolpat.html It looks like the gear rack is held horizontal by a thin cable, what's the logic behind that? It seems like if I had stuff on it and was going downhill, it would come and crash into me.

Well, now just find the nearest Fuji dealer and call and ask them if they have the bike. Go get fitted and buy and good helment-- and ride it!

Stay away from buying on the internet-- too many things can go wrong. Plus bike shops are about the coolest places on earth-- it's pretty fun to test ride, get fitted, ect....

Gosh, I'm not a total bike exspert, but I'm not really sure what the difference between a low end mtb and a low end hybrid to a beginning rider. Here's a couple of nice *starter* bikes from our friends at Trek.

Most of the difference is in the frames, tires and handlebars. If we got cute and switched tires and handlebars, there would be even less differences. Many collage kids riding mtb bikes raise the handlebars and get hard tires-- making that mtb awfully *hybrid*. Most mountian bikes never see a *mountian* at all-- they get used on the street and see a little mild single track action maybe. Either one of these bikes will do that pretty well. So why bash on hybrids?
