Default Spinergy Rev-X wheels?

Spinergy Rev-X

I have an opportunity to purchase an excellent condition Spinergy Rev-X wheelset at a very good price. But I have no experience with these wheels so would appreciate advice or reviews from those who have used these wheels extensively. Are they reliable? How do they feel on the road? Quality and durability of the parts? Service life? Any info is appreciated. I know the flat spokes are made of carbon but the wheelset in general are heavier than the latest high-end aero wheels. But then Camazind did win the '98 World's on a hilly course using these wheels.......Are they worth buying?

Thanks,
Tech72

They are heavy, noisy, have a reputed history of failure. I got rid of mine. 98 was a long time ago.

I would also say no. The carbon-firbe has a shelf life and it's expired on these wheels. They spokes wear out and pull right out of the soffet. My 240 pound buddy road a pair for one season and dumped them fast.

I had a set that I loved but after hearing about all the failures and resulting injuries, I dumped them too.

FYI, when I tried to deal with Spinergy directly, their cust. service was beyond terrible.

I bought a set of the X-tra stiff about 3-4 years ago. I'm 215 and never had a problem. I'm still riding them also. I did do the crash replacement on the rear after three months of riding. I crashed hard and bent the rim. No problems getting the replacement. I have to say that I have treated this wheels like crap. Hard rides on hard roads. Still going strong.
Maybe I should keep my fingers crossed?
