Default Anyone know about the Guess SC1?

Sorry if this has come up elsewhere already, but I can't search for terms with fewer then 4 letters....

I am thinking of getting a decent road bike for some fairly regular medium-distance rides (60-100 miles). I've seen the Guess RB1 and RB2 get very good reviews, and would like to know if anyone has experience with the Guess SC1 (the road bike above the RB2). The only place I've seen this bike for sale is

http://www.supercycles.co.uk

If anyone can answer the following, I'd be very grateful:

1. The frame is very light - does this mean it will be flexible/too weak for me (I am 6'0" tall, weight approx. 180 lbs.)?
2. The price of the Ultegra-equipped model is only GBP1200 - is this just great value or does it mean the frame is rubbish?
3. Do carbon seatstays actually make the ride noticeably comfier?

Cheers for the help.

Hi

I am also thinking of buying this bike, have you bought it yet? If so let me know what you think. It does look a good one, frame weight at 1kg although the colour scheme is not exactly to my liking. Was considering the RB range but perhaps the extra lightmess of this frame will make a diff. I currently have a mountain bike so am looking to upgrade for the summer, e mail me if you wish at winedarksea14@hotmail.com

Cheers

Jon

I'm not sure I can answer these questions per se, but I can give you a few pointers. I have an SC1 and am thoroughly satisfied with it. Firstly - your questions. (1) the frame is fairly thin and light. I am 5ft 8in and 65Kg and it feels well sturdy for me - suggest you call Supercycles to ask them - they should gaurantee the frame for at least the first year. (2) I have closely inspected the frame welds etc. It is not a top class frame, but is what I would consider very good. I consider it great value. (3) Not sure - I don't have enough experience yet to tell you. I can tell you that the saddle looks uncomfortable and I have had two rides with no bum complaints to talk of. So maybe comfier, but difficult to say for certain.
I think this bike is currently cheap by virtue of the fact that little is known about it and they are trying to break into the UK market, so I suggest snap one up now while they are still cheap. It is an amazing bargain, and you'll find yourself with a frame weighing in at less than 1 Kg. It breezes up hills and leaves me speechless every time I pick it up. It feels too light to be true.
The only note of caution - the wheels are going out of true a little quicker than you would expect, and the front wheel is not cross-laced. Minor issues really, considering the value.
