The opening round of the 2007-08 UCI Track World Cup Classics kicked off Down Under on Friday as 12 Americans were in action on the first day of the three-day competition. Two-time world champion Sarah Hammer posted the best result for the U.S. contingent on Friday with a fifth-place effort in the women's 3-kilometer indiviudal pursuit while a pair of sixth-place finishes were turned in by Becky Quinn in the scratch race and Jennie Reed in the sprint. Also, in his first-career world cup, 17-year-old Taylor Phinney lowered his personal best by over six seconds to finish ninth in the men's pursuit. http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=3313 |
