Gain ~5% power in both MAP and FTP, while simultaneously losing 3 kg and turning the clocks back 10 years (figuratively speaking). Get back to 2nd cat and ride the Etape. Ric

Goal 1- january 2008. represent the state team (U19's) at track nationals in atleast one of the track endurance events. Never ridden track before so this will be a learning experience. All my training is focused towards the track until the track season is over then I can start switching over to road. Goal 2- April/ May 2008. Atleast Top 10 at Canberra Tour and Top 10 in the Nationals Road Race and TT (U19). (Selection races for the National U19 tam to compete at worlds). Goal 3- August ? 2008. Win Vic States RR & TT. They are my goals I may aswell put it out there to you guys. I have a coach now who already knows my goals so all I gotta do is what he tells me to do . |

I was always of the mindset to create "obtainable goals" but still push myself abit further than is expected. I am just about finishing up my 250 watt ftp improvement plan and wonder, How much improvement should I expect? What would be considered good, average and poor? Currently I am 250 watts and according to the software 2.71 ft and seeing numbers improve across the board so besides other than below if I continue on similar plans and train accordingly what would be good goals. Honestly I do not know what is reasonable.... 1) Do more Saturday and Sunday races. 2) Win my first race and get out of cat 5. 3) Develop the pack skills and better at general bike handling... 4) Get a group of guys with similart goals that can become a team... All help is apprecaited.... -Js Quote:

Nope, your not the only Cat 3 under 4, my best is about 3.8w/kg. I hope to get it up over 4 w/kg this year. I did set a PB in a 40k TT of 56'10 this year, so hope to go under 55'30 this year. |

my main goal has been set for me by my coach...... I'll do my best: Improve my wattage at LT from 215 to 250 - before you go thinking thats awfully low I'm female and I only weigh 103 lbs. If I can do this all the other things I'd like to do should follow...... |

Thank you very much. I always thought you had to win a category to upgrade to the next category. Hmmm... I learn something new...It would seem I should be able to upgrade next year as there are weekly races in my area. I wonder if some people do not upgrade just to get more experience first. Interesting... Quote:

Your current power to mass ratio is about 1st category level, and improving to 250 W would take you to world class level. ric

I don't speak power very well so maybe I've mixed some terms up?? AT? not LT? I certainly did not get my mass wrong 103 lbs is all I've got. |

However, if you convert 103 lb to kg, your mass is 46.8 kg. Dividing your current power by that or your goal power and then checking this table http://cyclingpeakssoftware.com/imag...profile_v4.gif and seeing the FT column for women will show you what i explained in my previous post. With what instrument are you having your power measured? ric
