Temp generally doesn't matter but drinking too much water after exercising in extreme heat, can be fatal. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23393615-details/Marathon+victim+died+from+drinking+too+MUCH+water/article.do |
you have to drink just loads of water for this to happen, it happens when people drink too much during the event too. i'm talking after a marathon where one would normally be a few kgs lighter than when you started but you ended up being 3-4 kg heavier, you know you did something wrong... but you have to be drinking enormous amounts of water for this to happen.
it does happen though with all the hype about drink, drink, drink.. if you tell people go this far then they always think if you go ten time farther it's going to be 10 times better.. it is becoming a problem though since i read that boston or ny was considering putting scales at drinking stations so this problem could be spotted since the symptoms are similar to dehydration, but if you make a mistake and give someone with this condition more water you could really put them in trouble.
temp doesn't matter.. if it helps you drink more after the ride then the better. a nutritionist gave a good tip... before your ride weigh yourself and when you get home weigh yourself again and the difference is how much water you need to drink after your ride... you can fill up water bottles and place on the scale 'til you reach your weight from before the ride... i'm not that anal about it but you get the idea... when your hydrated you should weight about the same before and after the ride..
