Default Ibuprofen before Vo2 max workouts? You too?

Curious if anyone else does the above, or am I the only one. I take 200-400mgs before my L5 work to take that edge off as you know how painful these intervals are...Anybody?...

Makes sense, certainly would help the recovery. I use similar during my ski holidays, but that's just to allow me to make more use out of those lift tickets.

I don't get it... why? If you are in the middle of race, you probably have not taken these NSAIDs prior to the race and suddenly you have to do an L5 interval to make a break.

5 minutes in, your brain starts to tell you this is too hard, but your power meter is telling you that you have done this before... You can't hack the pain because in training you have artifically dumbed down your senses to achieve the goals.

The guy on your wheel didn't take the NSAIDs and goes past you in a moment of mental weakness and you lose the break. Race over.

Harden the eff up.

Actually there's evidence that Ibuprofen slows recovery...

Brilliant! I'll take your opinion as the bad joke it was... You're right, I should just quit racing now as my mental fortitude just isn't up to snuff...Regardless of the fact of my 5 collegiate football years and former NFL career (albeit short) were, in all likelihood, sustained in part by NSAIDS...

Just do some L6 workouts.

then the L5 won't seem so bad

Uh, did you say something??

Really though, and this is my last reply as I don't do internet pissing matches, if you happen to check my original post I was asking if anyone else took Ibuprofen - not trying to start a debate about the practice. Simple fact of the matter is that it works for me, with no readily apparent ill effects.

Lastly and quite frankly, your opinion's worth to me is just a little bit less than the price I paid for it...Peace.

If you don't 'do' internet pissing matches, then why do you insist on being such a prick?

Seriously, my mate asked why you took the Ibuprofen (maybe because he was honestly curious, as am I, as to why you really feel you need em) and you come back with some smart **** comments. I'm just not feeling the love from you bro.

So, don't indulge in the pissing contesnt, but I will, so go get farked Good day.

I have a suggestion. Take them as a suppository. I you are ghey enough to want to take them for a training session you are ghey enough to stick them up your bum.

I think you missed my point, but if something is so mechanically easy like riding is causing you pain to need to take bulk amounts of NSAIDs; you need to see someone about it.

Not directed at extremes of physical endurance. But also note that the article stated that NSAID can assist with recovery post intense exercises in moderate doses.
