Default High blood press & Cholesterol Meds Killing Performance

I have a friend who's after some advice.
His doctor has him on blood pressure (Avapro) and cholesterol (Lipitor) medication.
Since taking this medication, his performance on the bike has suffered. If he goes off the medication, performance improves.
So, has anyone else has this experience and if so, what was the solution, if there was one.

FWIW

"About 50% of arterial plaque is calcium and only 3% is cholesterol" http://www.lewrockwell.com/sardi/sardi82.html

"Blood pressure drugs: inappropriate treatment"

"Vitamin D and heart disease"
http://www.lewrockwell.com/sardi/sardi70.html

"So the level of vitamin D (50 ng/mL) associated with peak athletic performance is the very same level that recent studies show also helps to prevent cancer, diabetes, hypertension, influenza, multiple sclerosis, major depression, cognitive decline, etc."

Pretty powerful stuff those Angiotensin inhibitors. I am not surprised that there's physiological/performance alteration.

I went on Lipitor ~3 years ago. This past year was my best season (wrt placings) in the last 12-15 years or so. I also set PB's on climbs that I've been doing for over 25 years. It never occured to me that statins would inhibit on-bike performance at all.
