Default wanting to train

ive been around cycling for a few years but im always going for a little while then something comes up and get out of what little conditioning i had built. my question is there any recomedations for me to train like, should i go out on monday and ride about as hard as i can and try as hard everyday for a few days straight then have a rest day then repeat? or should i just go slowly building more miles each day? thanks for any advice.
