although probably not the best for my fitness it was still great. I was 5km into a 15 km route when I took a right turn right behind a 16 wheeler heavy vehicle. I stuck behind him whilst he slowly accelerated. eventually we were doing 55 km/h. This carried on for about 2 km with me moving to the side of the vehicle every now and then so the driver could see me in his mirros (and so I could see anything that may be of concern to me). The route I take then turns right again and there is a 1.5 - 2 km climb wich I normaly take at arounf 25 km/h. The vehicle turns right so I follow. He climbed the hill at 24 to 25 km/h with me happily spinning away behind him. It was classic to see the look on the pedestrians and other drivers faces when they saw this. Right near the top of the hill there is a kick in the tail with it getting steeper, but since I had exerted myself so much I still had energy and pulled out next to the vehicle and over took him. The look on the drivers face was priceless. I dont often get the chance to slip a vehicle for such a long stretch so it was fantastic for me and I just had to share this with you.

I do this everytime i can it makes a great interval! last week i was out riding and 2 riders met me at a light, i had already been riding 3 hours, when we left the light they tried to leave me behind we rode about a mile hammering a van pulled next to us lookng at us as if to suggest you guys are flying as he passed slowly i sprinted around the other 2 riders then got in back of the van to draft, the driver could see me thru his rear windows. at this time speed was 48 mph and my hrt was maxed i looked in back of me and to my suprise the other 2 riders were about 1/4 back, we met at the next red light and they said damn that was fun huh. when we left the light my legs were spent i thought these guys are gonna drop me now, we rode about another mile and came to some rolling hills. as soon as we hit the hills they got out of there saddles and hammered i stayed seated and stayed right behind them , when the next up hill came they slowed alot i could feel they were spent so i got out of saddle gave it my all and didnt look back i had dropped them it was a great ride, and my fastest ever 90 miles in 4 hours 6 minutes. |
