Exclamation Knotted muscle

Hello.. I'm fairly new to the fitness world and unfortunately waited until my 40's to begin caring. I've been trying to walk (power walking) at a substantial pace and last week, I noticed after walking that my calf muscle felt "knotted." It stayed this way for the better part of a week and 1/2, then when getting out of my car, something "popped" which felt like this muscle becoming "unknotted." I've been left with a limp and very sore calf muscle. Does this sound "normal" to anyone? I've debated whether or not to go to a doctor, as the more I walk the less sore it is. Any advice is appreciated!

sounds like u pulled a muscle! But im no professional so u should go c one! Especially as cos ur in ur 40s. As a rule of thought always seek medical guidance before commencing any physical activity!

Was this an audible "pop"? Is there any swelling? Are you able to point your toe on the injured side? How about against resistance? Lie face down on the bed with your feet hanging over the side. Relax your legs. Then have a friend or significant other squeeze the belly of the injured calf muscle. That should make your toe point as well. These signs would all point to a tone muscle or rupture achilles tendon. You should rule that out before you dismiss it as just a sore muscle.

Get a good deep massage off a specialist sports masseur/masseuse. Also get somebody to show you how to stretch propely. there are plenty of websites to illustrate techniques but better off getting shown i think.
But certainly get a deep massage. one of those ones that has you in agony on the table chewing damn thing! Youll feel much better the day after with plenty of stretching. Obviously the feeling better bit is provided you havent done anything seriously damaging to yourself....
