Default Knee brace for cycling?

So I've got a torn meniscus which is the result of a poorly done bike fitting and knee instability. I have taken the measures necessary to fix the bike issues and much of the knee issues, however I still need to wear a brace for patella tracking when I ride. The brace my doctor gave me is a patellar strap made by MedSpec. This brace really irritates the ligaments behind my knee with the pressure and the rear velcro closure; it also slips as even though its neoprene with a synthetic leather pad under the patellar area.

Is there a brace for patellar tracking and medial pain issues that is good for cyclists?

I will be taping tomorrow, but taping is not practical when riding many days of the week, plus running on any off day.

Somewhat off topic, but I have heard that the Mayo clinic recognizes prolotherapy now. It may have something to offer your situation.

I had both meniscus torn and folded and a torn acl. I started riding about 16 days after the surgery and have progressed pretty well but I don't use a brace. I also don't run which I think would irritate my knee. I did do some therapy and various exercises to strenghten my leg. I am 7 weeks out from surgery and expect to do a steep 50 km ride this weekend.
Did you have this repaired or are you just waiting for it to heal?
Again I would avoid running until you get the muscles built up and the stability back.

From Wiki, for better or for worse:
As of April 2005, doctors at the Mayo Clinic began supporting prolotherapy. Robert D. Sheeler, MD (Medical Editor, Mayo Clinic Health letter) first learned of prolotherapy through C. Everett Koop’s interest in the treatment. Mayo Clinic doctors list the areas that are most likely to benefit from prolotherapy treatment: ankles, knees, elbows, and sacroiliac joint in the low back. They report that "unlike corticosteroid injections — which may provide temporary relief — prolotherapy involves improving the injected tissue by stimulating tissue growth."[6]

You need to have the tracking issue addressed with treatment and taping (I have found kinesio tape works best and will last for 3 days)
