Default 3 to 4 Gals. of diet pepsi daily

Hello People,
I am seriously hooked. Wake up at 1am with a craving no man could know. I use a "big mouth" Qt. Jar as a glass and drink Diet Pepsi's all day while surfing on the pc. In 2000 I crushed my disc, I had a C4-5,C5-6,C6-77 anterior cervical diskectomy;C5,C6 cervical corpectomy; and foraminotomies bilaterally at C5,C6 and C7. I now can't stand very long due to pressure pain in legs, back, DDD, spinal stenosis, arithitis and my legs quit working. Any ideas? I am in the process of using a treadmill because I have gotten very out of shape since surgery. Also lost all my friends and cyberworld is about it. My ? Is. Is it ok to drink so much DP. Thanks for all who reply. My e-mail is miken28714@aol.com

drinking to much diet pepsi is no good because of the artificial sweetners. i'm not sure about the link between cancer and aspartme, saccharine etc but 3-4 gallons a day cant be good. try just drinking 1 gallon a day or dilute it with water. it'll taste really crap so you'll stop drinking it.

Good god man, you really should try to slowly wheen yourself off that. Water is the best possible drink but if you must have sweetened water, drink Gatorade's Propel. It tastes great and is much healthier than Pepsi despite the fact that it contains sugar.

Dude,

That's really bad as everyone has already said, too much aspartame for long term health due to it's possible health risks.

The chemicals used in the carbonation are also bad news for your bone health and by the sounds of your various medical procedures that's something you don't want.

Diet pepsi has 24 mg of caffeine per 8 floz so that's a lot of caffeien especially if you drink tea of coffee. 200-500mg is a high consumption of caffeine and you'll be way above that.

Start drinking more water..if you really need flavour try a cordial and make it really weak. We are talking 1/10 of a glass the rest water. It's obviously not a sugar craving as the sweetener is sugar free so got to be a taste thing.

If you hate the taste of tap water etc get a filter and that should improve things.

Aside from imporving yourr general health cutting down will be nice for your grocery bill as well.

There goes another person dogging caffeine. Tell me, besides being "jittery" what are the problems with caffeine? I still dont know why that stuff has gotten such a bad wrap.

As far as artificial sweetners go, if you have to, try sucralose. It is essentially the same sugar (glucose) molecule with a chlorine attached to it. Makes it indigestable and it acts more like fiber than sugar (tastes like sugar, digests like wood).

Diuretic, stimulant (raises HR and BP), depresant, adictive(?), up to a couple of weeks ago banned in sport by the WDA.

Caffeine is fine if

A) you are normally quite healthy
B)you have no pre-existing conditions that may be aggravated by "excessive use"
C) you know how to handle it correctly - ala thermogenics (ECA stacks and the like)

I don't think the criteria apply here.

I am rather fond of my shot of espresso in the morning and maybe a cup of tea during the day. However 3-4 gallons a day of diet pepsi and the associateed caffeine is more than likely not a good thing.

LOL,Yes I have all my teeth, brush daily too. Thanks for all the replies. It's not really a taste thing. It must be the fizz. Anyway, everyone have a good one and drink water.

I drink from a Qt. jar. It goes fast. To much time on my hands. I don't drink so much if I have something to do. Bought a treadmill so I am hoping to get back in shape as best as possible. Maybe find a friend and get out from under this PC. Just sitting here with nothing to do but think and hurt makes things worse. I guess in a way we all are addicted to something.
