As long as the Rear mech has enough reach then it doesn't normally matter if it was originally intended for 8 or 9 speed since its the shifters that determine the position of the RD.

Let me start by sayingI dont know the answer to your problem. But... You seem to be getting a lot of help here, some of it conflicting. Perhaps you could ask your LBS for advice if nothing else they could cost it for you at least you would know then if you really wanted to spend the money for an extra cog, good luck. |
