Been riding Maxxis Hookworms on the streets around Dallas for the past 150 miles or so. These tires are a great match for the bike and the riding style. I feel like these tires transformed my ride into pure urban assault mode. Get these tires if you ride streets.

I have 2,000 mi on Performance Kevlar BELTED road tires, they go for between $24 to $19 on sale. They will make it thru one season, and, have taken the usual abuse. Not bad for the price.

Kenda Klaw XT, Great all around performer! I just trashed a set of Specialized that never inspired much confidence on the trails. The Kenda's hook great!

I have the panaracer fireXCpro 2.1, and compared to my first tires, (shaved the back one bald in a year and a half... terrible beads) these rock! I can lean further, the beads grip aweome... at least until the mud on your tire buries the beads, and wear slow, as long as you dont do too much "tire surfing" down steep hills

I ride 26X2.5" Hookworms. They grip roads, sidewalks ramps and car hoods great! They don't do very well off road but that's not quite what they were designed for either. Since they only have one tread patters going through turns is nice and smooth. Putting the tires on the rims is a bit rough, but it's worth the effort. They are kinda pricey but well worth it. I would reccomend these awesome tires to urban riders, just make sure they are going to fit on your bike before you get them, mine have very little (3mm or less) clearance in a few places. These tires handle streets awesome!

WTB 2.1 Weirwolves. Love em! They're like trail velcro. I can feel the increased rolling resistance over my old Kenda racing tires. But I actually save time with my increased traction. to the tune of 15 minutes over 15 miles. I'll take it.

Bontrager Race Lite 700x23 Dual Compound (folding)

Just got them yesterday and they are a whole lot better than the Kenda Kwests that used to be on the bike.

I like how bontrager puts the little B's on the side tread

I like the Specialized tires, use the Roller Pro dual compound 2.3's on the free ride bike. They are a high volume tire, making it easier to run low pressure when needed. The road bike has the Specialized Mondo Pro in a 700 x 23, they have a 120 tpi and roll easy !

I love bumping old posts.

I use Specialized Enduros. Insanely good stick on wet and dry singletrack. They aren't very thorn repellant though.

Dan, we are talking about mountain bikes here but I can forgive you because you are crazy over the nishiki.

My bike came with Maxxis (Calibos / Kracken ) 26 x 1.95, and itīs OK for me. I live in Santa Fe Argentina, no hills, only pavment (I donīt like it) an many dusty roads, with some mud and sand.

I have other wheels with Kenda 26 x 1.5 slicks for the training rollers.

Regards.

Marcelo

WTB Velociraptor off road.
Vredestein S-Licks during the week when I commute.

Takes 5 minutes to change the tyres and to get everything setup at the correct pressures. A track pump makes life easier by miles as you can get the pressures exactly right. I run at 45psi off road and about 90psi on the road.
