Default Giant Yukon 2004 bad?

Hey, I recently bought a 2004 Yukon. I chose it over the 2005 model as the sales assistant led me to believe that the scorpion Tires on it were heaps better, and that the Suntours XCP-75s(I think) are heaps better than the RST Gilas. Well now I'm about 2 weeks in and my suspension has gone like a rock. Everyone is telling me my bike sucks. I really need help to know if the Yukon 2004 is any good.

The '04 Yukon is/was great value for what you get and is in general a good bike. Good enough that most of the Giant dealers ran out of their stocks really early through the model-year.

It's no featherweight XC racer, but it's an honest trail bike.

I wouldn't expect either of those shocks to be all that great, to be honest. Maybe the stanchions just need a bit of grease or something ? If it's only two weeks old the place you bought it from should be able to take care of it for you.

Yeah well I took it there today for the 15 ride service, Apparently the Giant Rep needs to check up the suspension but he only came at 4:00pm and I live 2 mountains away so I had to leave at 3:00pm (since I live in Canberra, Australia it gets dark early now days). So theres not much I can do. I think its actually 03 model. One with the Suntours not the RSTs anyway.

Now that is some double post!

What sort of brakes does your Yukon have? The 2003 Yukon had rim brakes, the 2004 got the discs. The 2004 model also had an RST fork, and the 2003 had a 'Answer Six Sport 80mm Travel' fork. My '05 Rincon has the SR fork to which you say yours has... so maybe you do have the '05 Yukon? Neither '03 or '04 Yukons have scorpion tyres either.

As to '05 vs '04, I would have gone for the 2005 unless I was really sure the 2004 was better. I'm not really sure which bike has the better gear sorry, but I really can't see the 2004 being crap. The bike shop should fix it up for you .
