That and the fact that the UN have shown the US / UK 'intelligence' about Iraq trying to purchase
nuclear was fabricated.

I wasn't referring particularly to Iraq....just an observation in general.

It's a good thing the Iraqis don't have internet access since CNN is plastering the fact the bomb is
relatively harmless and meant to intimidate more than do any real damage.

I love it!

One MOAB on every block of Bagdad would just about do the trick.

Peace through superior firepower AND better mountainbikes.

The new bomb is different in its size and guidance system. That said, it is similar in that it is a
designed to create a lateral blast with ~1,000 psi overpressure developed near ground zero. It is
also similar since it is a GSX slurry device and not an FAE.

BLU-82 is not a fuel air explosive, it also uses a slurry mix. It's contents are contained until the
charge detonates the explosives.

The difference? It has more explosives/heavier and is somewhat smart (see JDAM) Not entirely a smart
bomb per se since it cannot steer away or acquire a new target but uses satellites to help guide
it's gravity fed and not rocket propelled fall.

BLU-82's and the newer MOAB are lateral blast/air burst weapons. Of course there will be some casing
fragments, but the power of the weapon is overpressure.

> I remember hearing something about the daisy cutters blowing shrapnel over large areas, a
> hideous weapon.

Any device as large as a BLU-82 or larger is going to throw a lot of fragments. There really is no
such thing as a pretty bomb. If you think MOAB and BLU 82's are ugly, try a CBU-75 Sadeye equipped
with BLU-26 submunition.

The CBU-75 Sadeye is a cluster bomb unit that can be filled with 1,800 one pound bomblets, such as
the BLU-26. The BLU-26, in turn,is a cast steel shell with aerodynamic vanes and ~.7 pound of TNT in
which 600 razor-sharp steel shards are imbedded. The BLU-26 can be equipped to explode upon impact,
to explode several yards above ground, or to explode some time after landing. Anything with
flechettes is ugly.

> I also thought they were outlawed in a treaty??

Chemical weapons where banned, but many countries have worked with/ developed them, and most train
for there use.

I'm sure if he had nukes then we'd have our pink copy of the invoice around here somewhere. Maybe
the warranty card or something.

Actually Iraq bought over 200 tons of Uranium from Portugal, the portuguese foreign minister at the
time has admited as much in a recent TV interview.

Ahh sooo.... THAT is why Don Johnson was stopped last year while travelling from Switzerland to
Germany and officials discovered almost $5 billion in share certificates, cheques, credit notes and
bonds in his possession.

Glad we both know our energetic materials. Like I said, the MOAB is "similar since it is a GSX
slurry device and not an FAE."

Good to know that we both know our weapon quidance and delivery systems. I left it at "The new bomb
is different in its size and guidance system."

All of that being said, it looks like yesterdays test was "successful." Not that I saw it ... it's
mainly Areojet testing around these parts.
