Talking hill climbing

I do a fair bit of hill climbing off road and I want to improve my climb speed.
Do I push bigger gears to improve leg strength or increase my spin rate in the appropriate gear.

I say you do both--big gears on short climbs, and low gears on long climbs.
That's what I do.
