I seem to do different things with different moods and phy sical abilities...i.e. hungover, tired, stressed, and so on. It also depends on the weather. Humidity kills me and I tend to try and not ride when it is humid to avoid negative mental thoughts associated with asthmatic tendencies. Also, recently been singlespeeding LOTS and found that I too have been using many tricep/latisimus dorsi muscles as well. |

I think both equally, my calves are huge for a gurl, but never sore, use them all the time when walking or anything, but thighs get sore, but I believe we use both about the same. Jo Anne Quote:

You use the quadraceps (thighs) the most and the calves as well but not as intensively as your quads. Lasalles: Calf muscles are very important in cycling as they are part of your whole leg set up when doing any activity. Think about it. Doing leg exercises to complement your cycling would do wonders to improve strength, and power while sprinting for 1st or 2nd place in a race!! Enjoy the trails,
