I need your assistance. I have 1 trek 4300 with really bad quality components. As I'm started to ride my bike offroad more often (about 3 times a week 15 miles each), I think i need to improve the response on my bike. Actually I have Shimano Acera components, so I need to see if I can upgrade them (at least front and rear derailleurs). I'm thinking on Shimano XT or LX Can change these without chainging the all the other stuff? The bike is a 24 speed. Thanks for your help. AT |

You can certainly change your derailleurs. What type depends on what shifters you have, but guessing you have some form of older shimanos. LX would be a great upgrade for you. XT is very nice as well of course. You could find some shifters and/or derailleurs on ebay for a good price quite often. If it were me I would change the shifters and derailleurs and you would be sailing along smoothly. You could do all of that for under $100 if you go with LX and compare prices. Have fun. K. |
