Default Couple questions about new 39 dollar bike.

I have wanted to get into biking for a while now, and ended up buying one in the dead of winter.

I deliver product to target stores, and have been eyeballing the eddie bauer bike. After doing some research, I learned it was made by giant.

Target originally had it priced at 249. A week later that price dropped to 199, then they put it on clearance for 99.99, and I almost bought it. I left my debit card at home, so I had to wait another week. The next week I came with my card and the bike was 39.99.

Here is a picture of it.

Couple questions, is this a decent bike for some light trails and pavement riding?

Also, my buddy said that due to the shape of the frame it must be a girls bike. I never thought of that, is it a girls bike?

It looks pretty masculine to me, lol.

Anyway, here are some specs for the bike techies.

No its not a girls bike. Its just a curve top tube so it can accomodate smaller riders. Most cheap brands only make frames in one size so they do stuff like that in order to accomodate the largest range of rider heights by just adjusting the seat height. Definately its ok for pavement. For trails as long as its light stuff it should be ok. Hey if its only 39 bucks, just get it. No huge loss if you break it.

just because you didn't spend a fortune doesn't mean you aren't getting a decent bike. I rode a Wal-Mart purchased Murray for eight years on street/paved trails and I still have the thing. Just be realistic when considering where to ride. Some of the more brutal trails will beat your bike to death. Downhilling at your local ski area this summer might not be a good idea. Have fun with your new purchase!

Ride it til it breaks or you find its limits and spend some spare time figuring out what you want in your next bike.

Then when you know what you want and have the cash spend a fair bit on a really good bike
