I ended up in the 3rd and final group across the line at a "super crit" race today, just thought i'd throw up a pic of the finish sprint. I ended up 3rd in the sprint, and 3rd overall in my field which is cat 4. The race as an 11 corner 2.5k mortorpark course, with a couple of good hairpin turns and 3 mayjor hills. My Race alone had 2 crash's. Although my back was killing me, i still had enough in me to put in a modest sprint i think |

How much do you weigh and what was the NP for the race? How about your top 5 sec wattage? Congrats on the finish and way to stick it out. The last lap is usually a killer and one typically needs some good AWC to make it to the sprint. Jim |

5 sec was 1005w Actually last lap was pretty easy, i think everyone was waitting for someone else to attack but nody did until the very last turn. Like i said i was in the 3rd group, i didn't have the legs(or back for that matter) to join one of the early breakaways. And i still like the old Link Sofware more, i can actually make out the speed on this, and , it's in KM/H!!!, also you can see the variances in the cadence much better, again cause of the smarter scaling. |

I find that, for me, this number measures the stress of a variable effort, like a crit, fairly accurately. If you liked the Link Software, you will LOVE the Cycling Peaks software. It allows you to really get in deep to examine power files. Plus, you get the added benefit of being able to track your TSS with neato Rolling TSS spreadsheets... I find it interesting that you mentioned that the last lap was "pretty easy", yet your HR going into the sprint was already in the 170s. Amazing what adrenaline will do... I have come to the starting line of a TT with my HR in the low 120s! BTW I am someone that does a fairly easy warm up and I am usually at the starting line a couple of minutes before my start. The environmental impact on heart rate is the main reason that I rarely wear a HR monitor. The question is not "What is my HR?" The real question to ask yourself is "Can I hold this power/effort?" During a crit, the question becomes "Can I hold this wheel?" Have you started tracking your progress on the power profile chart? http://www.cyclingpeakssoftware.com/profile.html |
