Here's a couple of my best recorded efforts from last year. Peak power efforts should be done at ~30mph starting speed to minimize acceleration. That doesn't mean blow your legs getting up to 30 on a flat road. Use a small downhill with a flat or even uphill runoff. Listen to acoggan, you need to keep your cadence in the most powerful range for optimal power. You also need to be hitting peak within 3, 4 seconds MAX, otherwise you are wasting energy. The bottom line is, you need to practice a lot. Sprinting is all about feel, and you will KNOW when you are doing good without checking the powermeter. As another poster said, motivation is huge too. Get it, any way you can. Chase that passing car. Get to that sign up ahead as fast as you can, imagining your life depended on it. Have fun and keep the watts up. ![]() P.S. If you have a good eye, you will see at the bottom of my powertap screen, the webpage heading for Varna Diablo. It's currently the fastest HPV in the world, and I plan on building a simular ride because I'm a speed adict.
