Pros: inexpensive

Cons: variable quality

If you google the MT-505 (or it's sibling GL-2000/GL-5000) you can read about how these were unsafe POS's given away by Matthews TV in Daly City, CA or TV Lenny in Madison, Wi and couldn't legally be sold as they didn't meet safety standards... Supposedly they had stamped steel and plastic 'chinese no-name' componants, drop-outs that pulled away from the frame, screws and bolts that sheared if tightened... Truthfully, they are more representitive of the $200 level bikes of the period - some had stamped steel side-pull calipers and brake levers (and the GL series 'racing bikes' would have had the ubiquitous suicide levers typical of low to mid range bikes of the period).
