Specialized Crosstrail

Pros: Big wheels, nice components, ability to go off road

Cons: Weight

I bought this bike used as my first commuter about a year ago.  It's still doing great but I'm starting to realize that I would be happier with a bike designed more for commuting on the street.  I have swapped out the stock hybrid tires for some puncture resistant road tires due to the numerous flat tires I was having to repair.  The new tires made the bike faster but it's too early to tell if I'm getting fewer flats.

I do very little off road riding so I don't need the bigger tires but there is a nice trail nearby which was an old railroad.  The trail is unpaved and in places very bumpy.  The Crosstrail handles this very nicely.

My only complaint is that the crosstrail isn't really the best road bike which is where I do most of my riding.  The bike is fairly heavy and the very upright posture is comfortable but makes for a lot of wind resistance.

Overall, nice bike, good quality components and for someone looking to do easy off roading or short road rides this is a great bike.
