I was thinking that perhaps, just as some Americans apparently don't know the various connotations of the word "panache" as used by the French media, WBT simply doesn't realize that the word "dickhead" is vulgar and derogatory to most people. As often as he's heard it, he probably thinks its a friendly salutation.

You mean it's not a friendly salutation? No wonder my boss was so ticked at me...

The fairly shall I say scatological nature of this dedicated thread to the stage reveals that for once we had a come day go day stage reminiscent of third week flat stages in the days of Indurain and Armstrong with the groupe maillot jaune chatting among themselves while various journeymen rouleurs have their day in the sun.

Well done to Calzati on winning the cat 2 and to Tossatto on getting a stage for italy but wholly uneventful in the bigger picture.

Can Sastre get within 18 secs of Landis remains the question

Just tell him\her you were quoting Webster. That's what my wife tells me.

On ES each night - they show some backstage stuff about LeTour.
Stage 18 showed the Tour de France Director Prudhomme.

In interview he said that he thought that this Tour de France was superb and was talking it up.

He never referred to the fact that the riders were pulled from LeTour, that two entire teams were forced to withdraw also.

[I]I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles. You should believe in these athletes, and you should believe in these people. I'll be a fan of the Tour de France for as long as I live. And there are no secrets - this is a hard sporting event and hard work wins it" - Armstrong 2005 TDF
