Tash... you're up late... or up early... whichever it is...

I went and saw "Iron Man" as well tonight. Some funny scenes in there. <spoiler alert> The robot fire extinguisher scenes were hilarious...

Ummm...I don't know...went to sleep...woke up...so if I go back to bed then I'm up late I guess.

Yeah...that was funny.... And the very last line of the movie had us cracking up....

It was interesting too though...we (my 11 yo and I) talked for a while about war and stuff, moral dilemmas, afterwards...

Could you believe that was Jeff Bridges, bald like that...he's a good actor.

Did you get the short for Mike Meyers' new film, "The Guru" before your screening? That looks like it's going to be hilarious. They also had a short of The Hulk 2 with Ed Norton and Liv Tyler. The first scene of the trailer, Liv runs up in the rain and plants a big kiss on Ed. What are you doing kissing Ed Norton?...

Post edit - looks like we saw the same thing after reading your post.

Nope. I played my fair share of networked games, but I could never get into Empire. It was way complicated with primitive ASCII display and commands. The learning curve was extremely steep, and if you didn't know what you are doing you get steam rolled by the more experienced players. When you had a 100+ players making alliances between themselves based on part on knowing each other from previous games, newbies had a difficult time. Adding to the difficulty was that the game was a partly turn based and partly real-time. Attacks on other countries took place in real-time, and being logged on instead of relying on automated defenses was advantageous. So people liked to attack others when they were likely to be asleep, like at three in the morning. To force people to not be logged in all the time, the server could be set to limit players to a max amount of logged on time per day. The default max time was 1000 minutes! With a large country, you could spend most of the day micro-managing the economy of each sector of the country. It really was a game designed to be all consuming. I am not sure it is still played to any degree.

I couldn't find you...

That looked pretty good BTW...1000% better than the first one, which SUCKED, mostly because I wasn't in it... The new Batman...not interested, and if that was Heath Ledger's last role...wow, bummer. He looked like he got drunk and passed out at a Halloween party and woke up the next day with the makeup still on.

Yeah, The Guru looked good...Mike Meyers can do anything. He is hilarious...

And the new movie with Will Ferrell and John C Reilly is probably pretty funny too.

I've played Age of Empires. That was pretty addictive and time consuming. Was Empire an online multi-player variation of that at all?

I think I've got my chronologies all mixed up. Age of Empires only came out in 1999 or something like that.
