I agree with you that some things were invented out of thin air - especially the part of Calypso, and that was almost completely meaningless to the plot itself. I guess part of the reason it didn't feel too bad to me was that it tied up most of the story well without any Lucas style plot holes.

What's a "plot hole" though? Do you mean inconsistencies?

I'm struggling to remember the film... but I do remember feeling like a lot of the motives of the characters didn't make sense... like "why would this be important to them"?

Yes, plot hole = inconsistency in the story. Yes, some of the motives didn't make much sense - like why would Elizabeth send Jack Sparrow to Davy Jones' locker in the first place, etc. But there are no blatant inconsistencies (e.g. Padme knowing exactly where the "hangar" where Dooku is fighting Obi Wan and Anakin is, after falling from the ship).

What about Luke crash landing on Yoda's planet by chance within yelling distance of Yoda? I suppose he could have been given coordinates unbeknownst to us. In fact, everytime someone goes to find someone on a planet... they always seem to land near their target, even though they don't seem to have a clue where on the planet their target is. In fact... all the planets seem to revolve around a 50 mile radius of communities.

The things I don't like are when Lucas completely contradicted the earlier "sequels". Like Padme not surviving the birth of her children in the final film, despite Princess Leia mentioning she had memories of her mother in one of the earlier movies.

There is a difference between incredulous plot (the first paragraph falls in this category) and inconsistency (second paragraph). The hangar incident in Ep 2 is also an inconsistency IMO since nobody told her where the gang was going in the first place. One more: how does Darth Maul know which planet Amidala has gone to if they didn't send any reply to the transmission received from Naboo? If Lucas had hired someone to write a script instead of thinking himself to be a top class script writer, it would have been so much better.

Yeah we played it, was probably an idea stolen from the tv. Tv was a big influence.

I went to a really nice Art Fair today...supposed to be ranked best in the nation. I was going to go yesterday but never got around to it. Anyway, the photography exhibits are what really captured my attention. This guy's work was just phenomenal... I know some of you are into photography, so I thought you might be interested.

I'm afraid of course that some of the impact is lost looking at it over the net..but oh well...

I fell in love with his stuff... especially the one titled We All Draw Circles. Also really liked Crows Landing and You Gave Me Rain. They are all great though.

And Cranky and Eden, he will be at an Art Fair in Bellevue at the end of June...isn't that part of Seattle?

Beautiful stuff! I would love to have one of his 32x32 prints for my home. Maybe one day.

Yeah... Bellevue is it's own town, but part of Greater Seattle (on the other side of Lake Washington).

The pictures are really impressive. But due to the wonders of photoshop... I don't know where photographic imagery ends and creative artistic imagery begins.

Yeah... but did you play it with real cowboy and indian suits like we did? I was always the Cisco Kid. "Hey Poncho...", "Hey Cisco..."

Great pictures! Some look artificial though. I don't know whether the sky effects were indeed real, or whether the artist enhanced them in photoshop.

They look like they've been pasted in to me... but this is the problem I have with alteration... the stunningness of a photo is often that it is a real image that underlies it. Once alteration begins... how does one know it's not just CGI?

They're really nice pictures though. Really peaceful to look at.

First of all...it's "art" not just photography...

Secondly...according to his website, he added some color to B&W...and may have altered the original image in that way, but I don't think it's cut and paste as you guys are talking about...

Thirdly... haven't you ever taken a photo, especially of a landscape, and thought, well, ****, that isn't what it looked like... I think these images capture the almost spiritual aspect of what you see sometimes...with the light streaming down just so in just a certain moment. If you have to fiddle with the image to get to what it was really like...well that's that.

The one I loved so much...of the beach...the reason I loved it, is because, OMG....that's what it's like at twilight, at low tide...with the rivulets making patterns in the almost purple sand.... but I can't take a picture of that...

Also...did you click on the "archived" category on the left? Some great ones there as well, especially the last one in that series!

Lastly...if you had seen these in 32x32...your jaw would have dropped like mine did...

Whew...gotta go make dinner..
