She was mayor of a city of 9000 and governor of a state with fewer people than LA.
I also think she is about to find out that national politics is much more of a contact sport than she could have ever imagined.
Choosing a woman to try to pick up the Hillary people will backfire considering her staunch pro-life and anti-environmental stances. Of the women I have spoken with, there is offense at the idea that they are being treated like their vote can be had because she wears a skirt. That combined with the fact that she only moves their policies closer to Dubya, and anyone alive for the past 8 years that still wants that kind of government needs to look at the record.
Lastly, the pick was similar to a fireworks display. It was exciting for a while, but a few hours later you realize it didn't really do that much for you. McCain/Palin are toast because we have suffered through one of the worst administrations in history, and they are from the same party. I for one really do like McCain as a politician because he hasn't walked with the party line simply because he is a Republican. I will not cry if he wins. I am also realistic enough to realize that I will never have to cross that bridge. |
Ay, yi, yi . . .
I referenced the EXACT same point about McCain's age being an issue. I was simply giving a sweeping, cursory summation of my observations of people's reactions thus far and analysis of same, and saying that most thus far have said the ABSOLUTENESS of Obama's lack of experience for Prez is a more pressing risk to them than the POSSIBILITY of hers for Prez.
Lol about the skirt factor reference. It always is a factor, isn't it? In this instance, it's simply their attempt to counter and dillute the
minority factor in general is all. I don't really think they seriously think Hillary fans are going to be Palin fans. Palins's way too far right for that.
Agreed about the short term excitement factor. Reality is McCain doesn't even know her. I think THAT could end up blowing up in his face. She could end up being a bumbling fool in the debate for example. I haven't been real impressed with her professionalism (or lack thereof) thus far really. She
acts like a cookie club stay at home mom imo as opposed to a professional. But then again, when you get a woman that acts professional, people just call her a capital "B", so you can't win in that regard really.
Btw, law school doesn't really prepare anybody for much. Most attorneys I know will tell you that you walk out of law school not having the faintest clue how to actually
practice law. So Harvard Law Review does nothing for me as far as determining ability to be Prez. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that
she has any better qualifications . . .
