I had it when I was like 25, and I can see how people die from it. It was scary not being able to breathe. And I was single and living with a fairly unstable roommate, so I wish I had been in a hospital. But I survived, obviously...I lived on vanilla ice cream, because that was the only thing I had the energy to eat, and I could just get some out of the box and go back to bed...so it wasn't all bad.

Not a chance on Britney. Though, on the one hand I could see this all as some sick publicity stunt of sorts, being addicted to being in the headlines.

But, um, Bro, they have to actually BE dead in order to count for the rule of 3's I think. Who's Brad Renfro? Wasn't aware of that one to know if it counted. Ledger and Brando definitely count imo though.

Nah, depending on the cause even fit healthy people can get struck down.

We had a 42 year old fitness instructor spend 3 weeks in intensive care recently as a result of pneumonia (and we never identified the organism responsible). She was lucky .... she was nearly sent home from the ER because she wasn't that sick when she first arrived. Anyway she had a respiratory arrest on the medical ward at around 2am and ended up on a ventilator for 18 days.

Life is a strange thing sometimes.

OMG Friggo, that's horrible about your bro. Heart attack? That's horrible about yoru wife too. Did she have to have a C as a result? If not, I can't even imagine HOW she conjured up the strength.

Wow, that is an amazing story. She really was lucky to be where she was at the time.

Geez, now I'm going to sleep with one eye open, like when the kids are sick. Hubby NEVER gets sick either, but it's been one thing after another for him this winter.
