I knew a lady in Cleveland who used to be a Hollywood film editor. She did a couple of Van Damme movies and told me that he was considered an A1 prick in the movie industry. She said the director got so fed up with him during the shooting of one of the films, that he brought him back for an extra day of post production scene shooting and made him get soaking wet in almost freezing cold water all day (the seasonal weather had changed by then) in an unrequired reshoot.

He also came out to Asia when I lived there for awhile to open a Planet Hollywood, and let's just say the word on the street was that he didn't mind implanting his ego on/in as many ladies as possible. No harm in that I suppose if one has the celebrity to do it.

Best Van Damme movies:
Bloodsport
Maximum Risk (Directed by Ringo Lam )
Timecop
Sudden Death

He had a nice career there for awhile. Thing to remember: Alimony to four women and an addiction to coke may derail your future.

There may be water problems in many places in the U.S. I remember reading something a while back that said that the last hundred years or so of rainfall in the mountain states and maybe the Southwest (I can't remember) was quite a bit higher than the average over the last thousand years

The same as Seagal then, eh.

Except with Seagal, you don't have to be a Hollywood insider to know that.

I read somewhere that Seagal was such an asshole on the set of Executive Decision that they decided to kill his character off, and that is why he dies before the movie really gets going.

All I can say is that the guy must have had a lot of mob support....cause as well as being a prick...he is the worst actor I have ever seen in film.

Does anyone have a better candidate for worst/most over-hyped actor/actress ever?

Cuba Gooding Jr. is easily worse than Seagal, and he won an Academy award.

Now, on to TV.
Shows/sports I watch:
Mythbusters
The Office (both versions)
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
The Colbert Report
Southpark
NFL
College football
College basketball (the best sport period, IMHO)
Cycling
Almost anything on National Geographic
Almost anything on The History Channel
Law and Order
NASCAR (hate if you will, but I grew up in NC, sue me)
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (kids show or not, that show is great)
Family Guy
Try Survivorman and Man vs. Wild (ie Bear Grills). That guy is a freak. He eats animals without killing them first. There is something disturbing about watching a man bite into a flapping fish.

Office is great.

My wife watches Law and Order about three times per day. I prefer the old Homicide series. Andre Braugher had the role of a lifetime.

Survivorman is a great show.

Bear Grillis is a fake. He sleeps in hotels at night.

You mean "Homicide" from the 70's? I'd almost forgotten that show. Streets of San Francisco as well which came later. "Division Four" was around about the time of Homicide. They're all coming back. Though I was just a kid at the time.

Are we like those old stalwarts in bars, reminiscing about the good old days?

He probably means Homicide: Life on the Streets. A show from the 90s. It was sort of a grittier version of the investigative half of Law & Order.

Oh I was only joking anyway. I wasn't even born when that 6O's show was on. In fact, it wasn't even an American show.

Rightly or wrongly, the show gives me the impression that Larry David was the brains behind Seinfeld, although Seinfled was still really good after David left

+1 on that. It certainly wasn't Seinfeld. Gawd his standup act is awful.

Why is it that every TV show or movie about crime has to feature a criminal profiler? Regurgitate some statistics about the average person who commits a particular crime type, pretend you are a psychologist, and that makes you a modern day Sherlock Holmes? It's so trendy is boring. Can't any writers think of something else?
