The difference is now very slim. I suppose Edwards still has the delegates he accumulated before he fell below threshold.
This whole delegate thing just seems like trying to make things more complicated than neccessary so that it can be manipulated. Kinda like the Presidential election and the electoral college system.

At least in the delegate system you get proportional allocations somewhat. Not the all or nothing award given from each stste in the Presidential election. But you do get weird happenings like Obama geting less votes than Hillary in one State, but ending up with 13 delegates to Hillary's 12...

The TAN thread is mainly a sausage party (except for tagsy). They end up talking about bikes to <yawn> break up the boredom.

From what I can tell, Obama is ahead in the popular vote if the states with caucuses are taken into account. He has more delegates won by actual voting or caucusing, but he is still behind when the super delegates are added in. Talk aboiut farked up.

There was once a reason for the electoral college. The country used to be an indirect democracy. It's been sliding toward direct democracy, and the electoral collegee is now a relic. It should be done away with.

The Democrats and their super delegate system takes the cake, almost. The Republicans and their winner take all system is worse.

It must be huge face within the Democratic Party to be elevated to "super delegate" status. Kinda like becoming a 33rd degree Freemason. Or a Cat 1 DP poster...

How many Cat 1 DP posters are there? It looks like you need 2000 posts for Cat 2. I am not sure I have seen a Cat 1. You probably need 3000, and the moderators don't get ranked.

You have NO IDEA how happy I am to see that I come back here this evening, after not checking in for just over 48 hours and I see that even with mine and NNS's absences, there's STILL 8 to 10 pages of posts. Yes!!!

Haven't even weeded through it. Still on vacation. So, on that note, I'm off to read a good book under the flannel sheets 'cause it's friggin' sub-zero wind chills here and go to bed early so I can get up for my weight class.

I'll let you guys know how skiing went once I've had a good night's sleep.

G'night all. (emoticon with blonde braids hanging out from underneath ski cap removed. )

California tried to instigate an initiative to have the electoral votes awarded proportionately relative to the number of districts won by each candidate, but the initiative was seen as just a way to help the Republican Party, who have suffered 55-0 defeats in California since 1992.

The idea is a better one than the previous system however IMO, but requires all the States to adopt it simultaneously if it is to be fair. Therein lies the weakness in affecting any change... in that it requires the States to individually make the legal changes... and do it in unison with every other State.

Why not just tally all the frickin votes and do away with this State crap?

Welcome back C. Hope you had a good vacation. Did we manage eight pages while you were gone? It felt like two to me...

Nothing like the 20 or so we would have piled on if yourself and NNS were here to help keep the conversation rolling...

Been way too busy this weekend, can't stay around but thought I'd leave you with this gem....

What's the difference between hockey players and hippie chicks?

Hockey players usually shower after the third period

In other news, Paris Hilton's new movie "The Hottie and the Nottie" bombed with a gross of $25,000 over the weekend in 111 theaters, averaging $225 per threater.

More infamy...

I bet Paris spent more than that this weekend.
