Well, as I said before, I was thankful to see that while Edie, NNS and I were away, you boys STILL racked up 8 pages of posts. But, based on your glowing review, I won't bother to go back to read them. Did I miss anything pertinent in those 8 pages?

Are you so lazy to read 8 pages?

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I'll go back and read it here shortly, ok TDL? Does that make you happy now?

Hey BRO, since you still frequent DPF, what's going on there? What's the back story? Vaughn is supposedly sick? Do you know what the deal is there?

And, more importantly, the other mods are supposedly not moderating at all now? Huh?

You really think I give a hoot as to whether you read yourself up to date or not?

Ok, as for the ski trip, we had an AWESOME, AMAZING time. Hubby in fact surprised me with new skis and boots. (chick post alert) The skis are sky blue in color, which did not go with my teal, pinkish-purple and black get up. SO . . . we of course had to go buy a whole new ensemble of blues and blacks . . . ski jacket (a new Spyder jhusk ), pants, hat, gloves. The whole thing. Hubby rolled his eyes and mumbled how he so knew that would be the end result. Few hundred bucks on skis and boots turns into twice that for a new ensemble.

So, I get all suited up in my new ensemble, boots, skis in tote over the shoulder, braids hanging outta the hat, goggles raised over the forehead . . . got the whole look down. Hubby glances at me from top to bottom and says, "well, the good news is at least you LOOK good. You look like a pro . . . so as long as you stay off the slopes people will actually think you know what you're doing here."

I was a friggin' train wreck at first. Come to find out, new skis are really slippery (jhusk is cringing) and I don't think we ever bothered to wax my old ones (jhusk is probably in full cardiac arrest at this point), so it took some getting used to.

But, after a couple of runs, I got the hang of it and was back to skiing blues. I actually did the bottom section of a double black even on the first day (hubby has a knack for purposely taking you where you don't belong without you ever realizing it. One of our most memorable moments was in Colorado when we took his mom skiing and she's standing in the middle of the run yelling at the top of her lungs at him, "you're not happy unless everyone is in danger." ) In his defense, since it comes naturally to him, he just doesn't see the difficulty factor that others see. ("Oh, trust me, they say it's a black but really you've done blues that are more difficult", etc.).

So, on the first day I did the bottom part of the double black diamond. On the second day I did all blues and the bottom sections of two blacks. So, imo, by the end of it, I ended up living up to the expectations of the ensemble. But, no moguls. I don't know how to do moguls and am not interested in learning. I look at them and all I see is knee injury written all over them.

Hubby, otoh, he makes me friggin' sick. I could watch him ski all day long. Jhusk, the women must love to go down the run behind you I imagine. It's so friggin' hot to watch a man who knows how to ski. Skis completely together, swish, swish, swish, actually using the poles appropriately, slalom, snow spraying out from behind . . . now THAT'S HOT!!!!!

I actually think watching hubby ski might even be sexier than watching him skate, but I'm not sure. He might get upset if I tell him that, since hockey's always been his primary sport.

The slopes were icy the first day, but beautiful weather to ski. Got 6 inches over night so yesterday was great ski conditions but freezing cold. Schools are actually closed today because it's so cold. High winds too. I suspect the windchill was below zero when we were skiing yesterday. But it was perfect conditions for me. 6 inches fresh snow. I can't ski in tons of powder so it worked out perfect for me. Hated to leave because it was such good skiing, but we eventually started to freeze to death.

So the entire drive home was white knuckle. Complete white out conditions at times (even while skiing, which is always fun). Our drive took almost twice the time it should have.

TDL, drove through Erie, PA and close to the Buffalo area (was skiing about an hour away). NY doesn't appear to do much in the way of snow removal. I must admit, of all the states I've been in, by far Ohio does the nicest job in that regard.

And, with that dissertation I've made up for my absence here over the weekend. I probably should have saved it for when NNS returns though 'cause all of you tuned out after the first paragraph most likely.

Well, you enjoyed your get-away. That's what really counts in the end. BTW, you didn't take your kids with you, right? Where did you leave them?

Regarding snow clearing, I presume it was late evening or so when you drove back? I have mentioned it before, that snow clearing is quite iffy in NY during daytime. I have driven through I-81 to Syracuse through one snowstorm, and to NYC through I-81/I-80 through another snowstorm. Both drives took twice as normal (and we didn't see very many if any snow plows); in all cases, it was basically reduced to single lane traffic with cars going one behind the other, since that was the only way you could see the road at all, and then again, the only thing you could really see was the tire tracks that had cleared the snow somewhat or turned the snow brown. The path criss-crossed through lanes too; good thing no smartass tried to go to another lane and try to beat the traffic.

Actually, NJ did do some clearing on I-80 with two or three big plows in formation to clear out the 3/4 lanes...

This weekend, I saw a Plymouth!

We left about 2PM. They were a mess. Rarely a plow around. Only one lane even attempted to be cleared off, and it hardly was clear. Plus the blowing snow, white out conditions . . . .

The kids were at the in-laws. That's why we enjoyed ourselves so much. that's the first time we've actually skied, I mean SKIED, in 10 years, since we left Colorado.

They do however have all day ski schools and childcare packages so we might go back and do that . . . . otherwise, you waste money on lift tickets for the grown ups, when you never get off the bunny hill.

With such a package, we could spend half the day skiing by ourselves and the other half playing with the kids.

So you actually prefer a dynamic image to a static one? God, that would drive me nuts so fast! Then again, I have the tools to block such annoyances.

No, I just think it's a cool pic and the current one is really annoying. Now, if he wants to put up a cute pic of a baby, I like babies . . . that one's just not very cute imo.
