Did he have a crash or something, or did he just abandon for apparently no reason? I thought another Barloworld rider had broken his collarbone today?

Edit: Oh, that was Borghini.

That IMO is a big problem in the sport right now. The rider is always the sacrificial lamb while the doctors/management acts outraged and gets away with it.

This year, he had a proper reason to abandon. After his scaphoid injury, he was clearly in horrible shape.

No...say it isn't so.

well, wayne, it's actually "cojones" if you mean balls, and it's not Italian, it's Spanish . But don't worry, if you check my posts you'll find plenty of mistakes too...

It's "coglioni" in Italian.

Come to think of it, it makes perfect sense! They get the publicity of being "anti-doping", ensure that there are no positives, and also get good results in the races.

I was going for the Spanish since I didn't know the Italian, and missed anyway

Not sure what to make of his form on stage 10 as his performance was above the standard of last year. If he thought the dope test results may be dodgy then i would have thought that he would want to keep his head down? I suppose there was quite a time lag so he might have thought he was in the clear. Or maybe he just thought he could get away with it or knew he was doomed and wanted to experience the front of the tour on a mountain stage?

I might be mistaken, but I remembering reading Beltran and Duenas were considered non-negative to EPO.

Is this different to "positive to EPO", as in "we know they took EPO, but we don't know which type?"

Any explanation on this?

I think that's how they must classify it until they go through the B-test process. The rider has a certain amount of time to indicate whether or not he wishes to move forward with the B test. If the B test comes up positive as well (or the rider waives his right to undergo the B testing), then it is deemed a positive.

or in french (http://www.velo-club.net/article?sid=46598) :
Are we sure that there are different classifications as to EPO? I'm a bit rusty on my french poulidor as it's been 20 years since I've used it. But if I understand the tone of your post, you're referencing different manufacturers of the same product. I wouldn't think the banned list would distinguish between manufacturers. That wouldn't make sense. A drug is a drug, whether Pfizer made it or Roche. There are lots of drugs that have multiple manufacturers, but it's still the same drug.

Forgive me if I'm totally misinterpreting given the language barrier.
