Scrap the procession up and down that smelly cobbled street in Paris for the final stage. Instead, have the final stage as the criterium de Mont Ventoux. Start in Carpentras, head north and have a token sprint (the sprint in paris is normally pretty token anyway) within the first 10 miles and get that out of the way. Then do six laps (or 8 hours) up and around the mountain - starting from Malaucene, go south to Bedoin, onto Chalet Reynard and then onto the summit before decending back into Malaucene on the north side of Ventoux... rinse and repeat. 135km of climbing should sort out the men from the boys. |
