Default Olympic MTB

So what is up with the men's MTB? The USA was not able to finish on the lead lap. One rider finished one lap down and another was three laps down. The Aussie rider was two laps down. And a MTBer from China finishes on the lead lap. France takes first and second.

Does the French anti-doping program not include MTB or is the sport cleaner, allowing them to win.

In the women's race the USA finished 7th and 8th. China finished 5th and 12th. Australia finished two laps down.

I know in the U.S. MTB has fallen on hard times. It's now an extreme sports freak show. Has it gone downhill elsewere as well so that the talent level in international competition is poor?

Yea, I am surprised considering Craig and Wells have finished top 5 in UCI races recently. I don't know what happened other than maybe they got served some tainted Mu Shu Pork.
