Default Gambling, Doping, Tour and Law?

If I placed some large bets on an Astana team member being on podium, Astana being in top 3, Astana winning team race, Astana team member winning tour, contador winning tour, Levi winning tour.

If this then happened only subsequently the teammember was found guilty of doping and thus I lost my bet .... do you think that it would be possible and successful to sue the team member and or Astana?

If this is the case then I feel this would be one of the safest bets out there.

It certainly would. I'll ask my friends lawyers and if it's doable - I'll make a fortune.

Sue, yes you might find an attorney to take the case, but win? No! Since gambling is by definition a risk and secondly you have also posted that you are aware of the possibility that Astana as a team may be caught for doping you have displayed equal knowledge of Astana losing by default and forseeably determined to take the risk anyway.
Besides a gambling bet would not constitute a contract with Astana but with a bookie of some sort and Astana as an entity would deny any knowledge of such betting and gambling is not considered legal in a lot of places.
This is only my opinion of course and it would take years just to allow the courts to determine if Astana was actually guilty.
It would be an interesting scenario to see how many layers of international red tape would need to be hurdled before you could even determine how to file such a claim.

No chance to sue if what you said happened.

Reasoning

When you place a bet, it's all in. You're taking the risk that the rider will get injured, crash, get held up, dope.

The sportsbooks will have the rules set out in place! No hope of having a successful case.

It's the same thing about suing rider "A" who had a crash with rider "B" and rider "B" was in the yellow jersey and was goign to win the overall. Would you sue rider "A" for negligence? No, it's racing.

Same thing about doping. If they get caught cheating it's tough luck. I know it sucks, but that's the risks you take when you gamble.

If this is the case then how can employers be that Rabobank or anyone else try and claw back wages of cyclists who have doped and misled the team.

If you are interested and if I may, here is a link to an old post of mine that touches on gambling and outside interests imposing their will on cycling and destroying a great cyclist.

you have the cart before the horse. you place a bet on a rider for a stage win or podium finish. during the course of the event, your rider wins the stage, has his obligatory marksmanship test with the pee cup and stands atop the podium. you, meanwhile, have dashed off and collected your money. your rider wins podium place, has his time alone with the dco, and stands on the podium. you, meanwhile, have dashed off to collect your winnings. two weeks later your rider is announced as having returned a non-negative. the money is in your bank account, your bookie is pissed off and the rider should be worried if the consortium of pissed off bookies have certain friendships in other less honourable professions. can't really see your need to contract a lawyer. no real need to go into the alternate outcome where your rider loses and you wouldn't collect anyway, regardless of his doping/non-doping.
