Default 2009 Vuelta a España Stage 1: Assen - Assen (ITT) 4.8 km

Assen - Assen (ITT) 4.8 km

The course for the first individual time trial is fast and completely flat. The stage is one lap of TT Circuit Assen, a famous motorcycle course.

Cancellara destroyed the field... 9 seconds gained on Boonen in second place and next top 19 within 13 seconds... Significant difference.
Sanchez and Schlecks lost a bit of time on other GC contenders, but it's good to see tight battle among other GC candidates.

The thing with the schlecks is that they seem to be able to make that up comfortably in the mountains, there team is so strong
