The Wisconsin Bicycle Racing will be having an open house tomorrow (May 7, 2003) from 9:00 am until around 5:00Pm and later after the ABR Track race program around 8:30pm until 11:00PM. So bring your bicycle and a friend or two and ride the Kenosha Track early in the day and come to the office and munch down on junk food and race on the same track that will be used for the 2003 National Master Track Championships August 11 - 15, 2003. Below is a schedule for the ABR Masters Wednesday night Track events for the Kenosha Washington Bowl Velodrome Bicycle Track. If there is a treat of rain or possible cancellation for some reason. (2 blocks east of the track) Kenosha, WI 53140 Phone: (262) 654-6773 E-mail: cewbike@tds.net Wisconsin Bicycle Racing Wednesday Night Track Racing May 7 - August 27, 2003 Washington Bowl Velodrome Kenosha, Wisconsin Master bicycle racing (over 30 years old) on the oldest bicycle track in the United States and site of the Master National Track Championship from August 11 - 15, 2003. Equipment: Racers may ride with road or track bicycles for timed events. No shifting for timed events. For Massed start events, road and track bike will have their own separate events. For the progressive pace race only track bikes can be used. In-group motor pacing road bikes will ride behind the track bikes unless the driver of the motor allows road bikes to mix with the track bikes. Events: Timed events from 100 meters to 4000 meters (12 laps). Shorter distances are run as individuals Time trials. Longer distances may be run as 2-3-4 persons on the track at a time or as a team. Mass start events will be held each evening. Events to include but not limited to Sprints, Scratch, Handicap, Madison and creative events. Events are normally run sequentially though out the season, shortest to longest, however the schedule will be adapted to the rider ability and participation. If time and weather permits individual events may be repeated. In addition, a progressive pace event will be conducted behind a special motor pacing motorcycle for those who want to compete and train behind the motor. Categories: Master Men and Master Women only. A master rider is a rider who is at least 30 years old. Categories are broken down into 5-year age brackets (30-75+) Season Awards: Each racers best time for the scheduled event will count towards the overall season points for their category and will score points for the overall Wednesday Night Rider of the Year award. (Points for each start event) In addition all riders will score points on sliding scale based upon they're placing for the scheduled events based upon their time and place in relationship towards all riders that evening. In order to receive the season award a rider must compete in at least 6 evenings of racing. Registration: Registration is from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and racing begins at 2005:00pm. Timed events may start earlier if necessary (but not before 6:30pm) in order to get the program finished at a reasonable time. Only one standard ABR release form needs to be filled out for the season. No advance registration is required. No late fees apply. Entry Fee: $7.00 per night or $75.00 for the season. ABR membership is required. Memberships applications available at registration. Annual fee is $20 and a one-day license is $4. Location: The Washington Bowl Velodrome is located in Washington Park. Entrance on 22nd Av. Just south of the Fire station on the corner of Washington Rd. and 22nd Av. From I-94 take the County Highway 142 / HWY S (Exit # 340) Turn to the east on Hwy 142/ Hwy S towards Kenosha. Continue approximately 6 miles to 22nd Av and turn right onto 22nd Av. (A fire station is on the South East corner) Just south of the Fire station is the park entrance, turn left and follows the road to the Velodrome. Tentative Schedule: The following schedule may be changed to meet the needs of the bicycle racers that are present or to get the program finished in a reasonable time or if threatening weather is possible. May 7: flying 200 m flying lap (333m) Unknown distance scratch May 14: flying 200 m standing lap (333m) Miss and out May 21: flying 500 m standing kilo Team sprint May 28: flying 200 m standing mile Chariot (1 lap) June 4: flying 100 m standing 1500 m Miss and Out Pursuit June 11: flying 200 m standing 2000m Madison June 18: flying ½ lap standing 333 m Sprints June 25: flying lap standing 500 m Handicap July 2: flying 200 m standing 3000 m Team Pursuit July 9: flying 750 m standing ½ lap Miss and Out July 16: flying 200 m standing 4000 m Snow Ball July 23: flying 50 m Points race Half lap elimination July 30: flying 200 m standing kilo Team sprint August 6: standing kilo standing 2000m Sprints August 13: No Wednesday Night racing due to the Master Track Championships August 20: Kilo Sprints Pursuit August 27: unknown distance standing 2000m Points Race / Party Questions: Wisconsin Bicycle Racing: Carl Wilkins (262) 654-6773 or cell phone # (262) 496-0594 or cewbike@tds.net.
