| | | Charlie Rose I don't know if anyone else caught Lance on CR for a full hour
interview.
I think Lance was able to settle the argument about him being the best
of all time when he said that he was not. It was also clear that he
though that the tile belongs to Merckx as if there was ever any doubt
about that.
He also said that being the best of all time was never his goal. He
said he didn't race in the other classics because he felt his work to
fight cancer and help cancer patients was more important.
Interesting interview. | Charlie Rose |

I caught it. It was interesting - LA was very animated and candid. Though
he said he looked forward to his interviews with Charlie, Rose came across
as somewhat pushy and almost cloying at times.
On Gov. of Texas, Lance said 'gee, to be the governor would mean being on
the road and away from his kids...exactly the reason he retired from
professional cycling'.
Uh, really can't recall anything substantial that he said about cycling
aside from explaining a couple simple concepts behind racing the Tour. One
thing he tried to say was that one reason he didn't race more was
-partially- due to his other committments, visiting patients and soforth.
Rose immediately seemed to try and assume that if not for these
committments LA would have and could have done the other major Tours.
Lance, trying to be agreeable had to then step back and explain it wasn't
-just- the committments, it was other things, but didn't go on to explain
he really had to, preferred to, focus on the Tour, iirc.
Could have been a bit more interesting if Rose had done some more homework
and picked a few better questions, but oh well....

There never was an argument. It's Eddy. And for those who thought otherwise,
Lance's saying it's Eddy won't change their minds. |

There's hardly nutthin' won't be improved with a little more cowbell.

| | | Re: Charlie Rose I also caught the iterview -- midnight to 1PM, the whole hour, sort of
rare for Rose to do one person the entire show. I do not know how I
stayed awake. I also caught the one hour on OLN yesterday evening
Lance did with Paul and Phil, in Nice, France with all of the cicadas
chirping in the background.
Paul & Phil's interview covered all 7 Tours since 1999. It was
excellent and good for the technical crowd. Lance again repeated the
story of Ullrich's broken English speech to all at the retirement party
he threw in Paris Sunday night. Hardly anythign on the cancer, which
has been covered over and over again.
Rose's interview was suprisingly good.
David Letterman's was good too -- he actually let Lance talk and hardly
interrupted as is David's typical style.
All in all, three good shows.

and never once shown the dominating form he finds for the Tour. kind of
