Changing Rear Axle HED Disk

Hi I am in the process of changing the axle on my old Hed
Disk Wheel ( Freewheel type ) for use on the track.. I have
ordered the Hed Track Kit form "Hed USA" have any of you
done this before ? I have the wheel ready now I have the
quick release off and the two end caps off of the part that
goes through the center of the wheel..the way I see it is
the track kit solid axle will just go through that center
part. Is this correct ? I am pretty sure that center part
does not come off it does however stick out each side of the
wheel by maybe 2 cms at most...I also understand the Hed
Track Kit will come with cones to make things tight..I guess
I am looking for someone that has done this in the past.

So far so good!

To continue: Push the axle all the way out. One bearing will
come out with it. Push the bearing back in the hub without
the axle. Install the track axle with the "cones" riding
inside the bearing races. Install the rest of the spacers,
lock nuts, etc. Adjust bearing play as usual.

You might consider swapping to larger diameter nuts where
they touch the frame (inside and out). The nuts supplied are
pretty small and badly gouged the steel dropouts on my
friend's Tomasso, to the point where it was very difficult
to adjust the chain tension. They're threaded M10x1, same as
many other hubs (Shimano, SunTour, Surly, Sansin, etc.). But
not the same thread as Campagnolo.
